Classes D1 - D1E - D - DE - Which class do you need?
Class D1
With class D1, you can drive buses with up to 16 passengers and 8 meters in length – perfect for shuttles, school buses or club trips.
Class D1E
When your minibus needs to carry more. D1E expands your options: You drive minibuses with trailers over 750 kg.
Class D
Class D allows you to drive buses for more than 8 passengers, even for long distances, urban tours or special transportation.
Class DE
The bus with a full trailer. With category DE you can drive large buses with trailers over 750 kg – ideal for travel companies or event logistics.

Education voucher (BGS) - Employment Agency or Jobcenter
- You are unemployed or looking for work and would like to get a truck driver’s license and are eligible for a training voucher (BGS) or would like to find out or clarify the conditions and requirements for a BGS.
- You have received a training voucher from the Employment Agency (AA) or Jobcenter (JC) and would like to get your truck driver’s license.

How much does a bus driver's license cost in Düsseldorf?
The exact costs depend on the class you choose and your individual learning progress. You will receive an exact overview of all fees during your personal consultation.
How long does intensive training for a bus class take?
Our bus training is compact and effectively structured. The exact duration depends on the respective class to be acquired, whether you are only acquiring a single or a double class, and currently also on your previous possession, i.e. which driving license class you currently hold.
However, it also depends very much on your individual learning speed.For intensive training, however, you would have to be completely available in terms of time, and the organizational aspects would have to be arranged and completed in advance.
What documents do I need to register?
Your identity card or passport is sufficient to register at the driving school. The following documents are then required for the application at the road traffic office:
- ophthalmologist’s certificate, which must not be older than 2 years
- a certificate of participation in a first aid course
- a medical examination by a company or occupational physician in which the following criteria are examined (KOBRA):
- Concentration
- Orientation
- Load
- Reaction
- Attention
How many special trips are prescribed?
This also depends on the category to be acquired, whether it will be a single or double category and what previous driving license you already have.
The minimum practice hours are currently (as of 05.2025) also prescribed for the bus classes. The number of driving hours to be completed is between 22 and 89 driving hours.
Where do the theory and practical exams take place?
Both tests take place at TÜV Rheinland in Düsseldorf.
Are there weekend or vacation courses?
Yes, we offer weekend courses as well as special vacation courses so that you can get your driver’s license quickly and flexibly. However, we should clarify the general conditions in a personal meeting.
